ABOUT ME
Hi I’m Sophie, and I have an incredible passion for dogs, whether it’s training or portraiture, I cannot get enough of them.
Since 2018 I have worked as a kennel hand and vet nurse, these roles have required me to be able to evaluate and assess canine behaviour, as well as manage multiple dogs at any time. Before moving to Toowoomba, I was an active member of the Brisbane Metropolitan Obedience Club, and was invited to be a part of the instructor team, however my career in vet nursing stole me away to Toowoomba before I got to realise my training dreams.
My philosophy is “Training isn’t just about ‘good behaviour’, it creates an incomparable bond between person and dog and by doing so, creates the perfect dog for you”
I’ve always been interested in canines, when I was 11 I saved up for a NINTENDO DS purely to buy Nintendogs as an attempt to prove to my parents I could look after a dog.
Fast forward 10 years, I start my photography career and finally get my first very own dog, Bowser the Rottweiler X. Bowser simply fed my passion for training, I spent every Monday evening at obedience club and every spare moment teaching him novelty tricks. This dog even lead me to a complete career change from photography into vet nursing.
Dog 2.0 was added to our pack in 2020, a GSP called Atlanta. As she was a puppy in peak covid, she didn't experience the world the way most puppies need for socialisation, leading to her growing into a relatively anxious and reactive dog. Having an anxious dog has never deterred me from training, I have the most fun with that amazing creature; we participate in sports such as Cani - X and dog sledding, agility and lure coursing, she’s even dipped her toes into dock diving! Atlanta’s anxiety meant I had to adapt my training style, which was so fascinating and has fuelled my passion for training.
I hope that with applied research, experience and love for dog training and communication, that I can help you build your relationship with your pet, and develop skills that will help them face the world
